As National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) 2025 approaches, running from 10th–16th February, the Scaffolding Association is urging members to seize this opportunity to promote apprenticeships within the scaffolding industry. NAW is a fantastic platform to celebrate the role apprenticeships play in nurturing skilled professionals and securing the future of our trade.
One of the standout initiatives available to members is the Skills Bootcamps in Scaffolding programme, delivered by City & Guilds. These flexible training courses provide essential skills to new entrants or those looking to upskill, offering a clear route into scaffolding careers. Highlighting this opportunity, Robert Candy, Chief Executive of the Scaffolding Association, said:
“Skills Bootcamps provide scaffolders with the training they need to build strong careers, while helping employers bridge the skills gap. By supporting these programmes, we ensure our industry is equipped to meet future demands.”

In addition, members are encouraged to take part in Open Doors Week, running from 18th–23rd March 2025, by opening their sites and showcasing the scaffolding industry. This is an ideal opportunity to host site visits, demonstrations, or Q&A sessions to engage with potential apprentices and highlight scaffolding as a rewarding and vital career path.
Members can also take advantage of the CITB Apprenticeship Webinar on 8th February 2025. This free session is designed to simplify the apprenticeship process for employers, covering funding, support, and how to recruit apprentices. Register for the webinar here.
We’re encouraging all members to mark NAW by sharing stories about your apprentices and championing the opportunities that scaffolding offers. By participating in NAW and Open Doors, you’ll not only inspire the next generation but also promote the vital role our sector plays in construction.
