The Scaffolding Association is saddened by the news that a number of UK trading entities of ISG Ltd entered administration on 20 September 2024, and extends its full support to those who may be affected by the closure of the company.

ISG, a significant player in the construction industry, has ceased all UK operations with immediate effect. The Joint Administrators, EY LLP, have been appointed and are responsible for overseeing the next steps for the company and its creditors. This situation will have far-reaching impacts across the supply chain, including subcontractors, apprentices, and other employees.

All UK contracts with ISG have been immediately halted, this means that Contractors are not authorised to attend any ISG project sites, which are now closed. Contractors who have plant, tools, or materials on ISG-controlled sites should contact the site owners directly from 23 September 2024 to discuss collection arrangements.

For those owed money by ISG for goods or services supplied before the company entered administration, your debt will be treated as an unsecured claim. Unfortunately, the administrators have advised that there are unlikely to be sufficient funds to distribute to unsecured creditors. For information on how to submit a claim, contractors are encouraged to visit the EY ISG Administration website for further details.

Scaffolding Association Chief Executive, Robert Candy, commented on the impact of ISG’s administration:

“This is an incredibly challenging time for the construction industry. We extend our full support to all businesses, contractors, and apprentices who have been affected by ISG’s administration. We are actively working with our partners and members to ensure apprentices and contractors can continue to thrive, despite these difficult circumstances. Now more than ever, it’s important that the industry comes together to support our community and ensure a strong and resilient future.”

To ensure that apprentices, trainees, and graduates affected by this closure are supported and can continue their training pathways. Those who may be in a position to offer placements or roles to those impacted by ISG’s administration are encouraged to reach out to Build UK via [email protected]

The Scaffolding Association understands that this is a challenging time for many, and is committed to offering support to industry through this difficult period. Should you need further information or assistance, please contact them at [email protected]
